Keeping project zeta under wraps for right now, but I’ll give you another little tasty treat in the spirit of the Suicidio Con Il Formaggio: project eta revealed!  Poutine, that delectable Canadian icon of fries, cheese curd and gravy thrown together in a marriage of convenience with the ubiquitous deliciousness of pizza.  In all honesty how can you go wrong? First the ingredients – pizza base (store-bought or home made), some mozzarella cheese, a package of frozen french fries, your favourite gravy and  of course some fresh cheese curd.

First I grate a little mozzarella cheese to go on top of the crust but below the fries. This is how I roll.

Cheesin

Next I cooked the base as per the directions on the packaging, but only for about 2/3 of the time, in this case 7 or 8 minutes.  Some nice olive oil and spices would be a great addition at this stage.

Precookin

Once the pizza base is on its way to being cooked, take it out and put in your fries. This part takes the longest, especially as I like my fries nice and crispy.

Fry time

All aboard the gravy boat!  Two packages of the surprisingly veg turkey gravy I like.  Be sure to get it to a nice thick consistency.

Ze Gravy

When the fries are five or so minutes from being done, I take them out and put the grated mozzarella on the pizza base. If you were to have baked the base with the cheese on it the first time around, I think the cooling moz would have had thrown everything off, so I only put the cheese on now.  Scoop the fries on top of the pizza base and if you’re paranoid like me of them falling off in the oven, construct a little ‘fry fence’ around the perimeter to keep any escapees in their place!

This Is How We Do It

Carefully put the pizza into the oven, and cook until the fries look nice and done and the crust starts to turn a golden brown.

Ready 2 Go

When you’re done you should have a delicious french fry pizza, but of course that’s not what we’re here for.

Delicious!

Add a liberal amount (two bags!) of cheese curd and begin to pour on your gravy.  Mmmmm!
